Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, who will pay for the Democrats new spending bill

A tax on billionaires and a 15% corporate minimum tax are how Senate Democrats plan to pay for Biden’s domestic spending plan. The president is pushing for an agreement before he departs for global summits later this week. Now at 1.75 trillion, half of it’s original size, Democrats say they’re edging closer to satisfying their most reluctant colleagues. In other words, they’ve wined and dined Joe Manchin enough. (Additional Out) Which is good because this is two weeks past boring.

Tease: In ______ minutes, missing hiker ghosts rescuers

Rescuers tried to call his cell phone multiple times, but were unable to reach hm. LCSAR took to their Facebook page to remind people to answer their phone if they’re lost. But if you’re ‘stranded’ with a working cell phone you’re clearly not playing with a full deck to begin with. (Additional Out) Die alone in the woods or talk to someone about my cars extended warranty? That is a tough one.

Witch costumes are followed by rabbit, dinosaur, Spider-Man, Cruella de Vil, fairy and Harley Quinn, cowboy, clown and Chucky. Basically, the most popular adult costumes are the same just add the word sexy in front of it. (Additional out) There’s zero chance I’d let my kid dress up as Chucky, I wouldn’t sleep for weeks.

Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, more bad news for Facebook

A series of news stories dubbed ‘The Facebook Papers’ is being published by 17 US news organizations. The stories, based on thousands of internal documents, reveal how Facebook has been used to sow political discord and extremism around the world, facilitate human trafficking, push hate speech and misinformation and organize events like the January 6th insurrection. But I’m sure their name change will fix everything. (Additional Out) But only because they knowingly programmed an algorithm to specifically do all of those things in exchange for profit.

Tease: In ______ minutes, Brady ups the ante for the 600th ball guy

Tom Brady threw a bitcoin to the guy who gave back his 600th TD pass in Sunday’s game. On Peyton and Eli’s ESPN2 broadcast last night the future hall of famer talked about how Bucs fan Byron Kennedy returned the ball in exchange for two signed jerseys, a helmet, another jersey autographed by Evans, Evan’s game-worn cleats, season tickets and a $1,000 credit to the team store. The bitcoin Brady added is currently worth $63 grand. He didn’t, however, throw in the creepy thing Romo suggested. (Additional Out) Roughly six to seven hundred grand less than he’d of gotten for it on Ebay.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the percentage of businesses reporting a shortage of workers

47% of businesses reported a shortage of skilled workers in the third quarter according to a recent national survey. On top of the ongoing labor shortage, supply chain issues continue. Currently $24 billion in goods is estimated to be sitting outside California’s two biggest ports. Officials warn that the supply chain crisis could last through the first half of 2022. Luckily, I still have fireworks that I didn’t get to use left over from last 4th of July. (Additional out) Turns out hoarders we’re on to something.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this billionaire wants to build a tourism space station

Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin is proposing to build a tourism space station nearly as big as the International Space Station. The massive new commercial space station called ‘Orbital Reef’ would be able to host up to 10 people. It could be used to host science experiments, in-space manufacturing and even vacation getaways. Because that’s how I want to spend my summer vacations, cramped into a space station with my family trying to explain how my kids clogged a space toilet. (Additional out) That you may or may not return from.

Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, this country's most wanted drug lord just got captured

Columbia’s most-wanted drug lord has been captured by authorities. The capture of Dairo Antonio Usuga, known as ‘Otoniel’, is being heralded as the biggest blow to the country’s narcotics traffickers in decades. Otoniel became the leader of the ‘Clan del Golfo’ drug cartel following stints as a left-wing guerilla and a paramilitary. Columbia’s President compared the arrest to the fall of Pablo Escobar in the 90s. Who you might remember from the 100 movies and documentaries about him. (Additional Out) Probably had something to do with the five million dollar reward the US put on him.

Tease: In ______ minutes, how much the fan who gave back Brady’s 600th TD ball missed out on

After catching the milestone touchdown during the Bucs-Bears game, that made Brady the first player in NFL history with 600 TD passes, receiver Mike Evans unknowingly handed it into the crowd. But the Bucs were able to convince the man to give the ball back for another ball and a $1,000 gift card. Which will buy him roughly four beers at Raymond James Stadium. (Additional Out) I assume the replacement ball had significantly more air in it.

(Additional out) Because I’m being told they’re just smaller versions of us.

Basically, now every day is like a day before a snowstorm people are overreacting to.

2) Deshaun Watson could be a Miami Dolphin by the end of the week. NFL insiders say the Houston Texans are trying to finalize a deal before the NFL’s trade deadline on November 2nd. Houston is still asking for three first rounders in exchange for the 26-year-old Watson. Roughly 1 for every 7 civil cases he’s facing.

3) A new subtype of the Delta variant is causing concern in the UK. British and international authorities are watching the subtype that now accounts for about 6% of new cases. Experts have suggested that the AY.4.2 descendant could be slightly more transmissible than the original Delta variant, but it is not yet considered a ‘variant of concern’. I guess the longer this thing drags on the less creative we’re going to be with the names.

4) Kellogg’s is being sued again over the amount of strawberries in their pop-tarts. A New York woman named Elizabeth Russett is suing the food manufacturer for damages exceeding $5 million. It’s the second time Kellog’s has been sued because their labeling on their strawberry Pop-Tarts contain images of fresh strawberries but include few actual strawberries. If I’m suing Pop-Tarts for anything it’s the fact that I get third degree burns on the top of my mouth every time I eat them.

5) A new study looked at activities that led to Americans visiting major trauma centers over a ten-year stretch. According to their findings, which one of these is more dangerous than playing football? A) skiing, B) horseback riding or C) auto racing. Answer: B, horseback riding led to more major trauma center visits than skiing, auto racing or even football. Luckily, I no longer do any of those so I should be good.

Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, a new climate change solution

Could giant carbon-sucking fans be the answer to cleaning up our climate change mess? That’s the hope of scientists in Iceland who’ve constructed a towering metal structure resembling four giant Lego bricks, with two rows of six whirring fans running across each one. Machines like it are being used to literally suck CO2 out of the atmosphere like giants vacuum cleaners. Will it work? I don’t know I’m not a scientist, but it’s worth a shot. (Additional Out) I knew if we waited long enough we’d eventually invent our way out of it.

Tease: In ______ minutes, what’s being cut from the economic spending bill

Tuition-free community college is out of the pared-down economic spending bill despite being a major White House priority. The child tax credit has also been shorted to only one more year in the new $1.75 to $1.9 trillion-dollar bill. Other items on the chopping block include provisions for paid leave benefits, disability care and elder care. Sorry Grandma, Joe Manchin’s trying to get re-elected. (Additional Out) But don’t worry, I’m sure there’s still plenty of things in there we’re overpaying for.

Tease: Coming up at _____, why your morning routine could get pricier

Proctor & Gamble is raising prices on some grooming, beauty and oral care products. The announcement by one of the largest consumer goods manufacturers means our morning routines could get more expensive. Other major manufacturers and stores have also increased prices in response to rising expenses for raw materials and transportation. Guess it’s time to move out to the woods and learn to make my own soap. (Additional out) The cost of hygiene products going up is bad news for everyone except Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

Tease: In _____ minutes, Kanye’s got a new name

A judge has granted Kanye West’s request to change his name to just Ye. The rapper, born Kanye Omari West, filed paperwork in a California courthouse and Judge Michelle Williams granted his petition to legally change his name. He hinted at the change back in 2018 when he tweeted, ‘the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE,’ but now its official. So those of you who had failed run for president and name change on your crazy bingo card just won. (Additional out) Kind of lame, at least Prince picked a random symbol, all you did was shorten your existing name.

Tease: In _____ minutes, new study for people who got J&J

People who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine may be better off getting a Moderna or Pfizer booster according to a new study. The NIH study on ‘mixing and matching’ Covid vaccines included 450 adults divided into groups receiving an extra shot of their original vaccine or a booster from a different company. All the combinations boosted antibody levels higher, but Pfizer’s and Moderna’s appeared to work the best. I like my vaccines like I like my casseroles, just throw a little bit of everything in there. (Additional out) I’ll take a double shot of Pfizer, with a Moderna chaser and hold the J&J.

5 Things You Need to Know

1) William Shatner called his ride in Blue Origin’s rocket ‘the most profound experience’ of his life. At 90, the actor who portrayed Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek is now officially the oldest person to ever go to space. Once he was back on Earth a visibly overcome Shatner told Jeff Bezos, ‘I hope I never recover from this. I hope I can maintain what I feel now.’ And Bezos replied, thanks for not dying, that would’ve been awkward.

2) Beatles legend Paul McCartney took a shot at the Rolling Stones calling them a ‘blues cover band’. McCartney, who is currently promoting a new book, made the comment in an interview with The New Yorker. Here’s the quote, ‘I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are. I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs.’ But since he said it with a British accent it didn’t sound as rude.
