The FDA will grant emergency use authorization for a booster dose of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine in people 65 and older as well as those at high risk because of pre-existing conditions or their job. The next step is for the CDC to give their stamp of approval. But the Pfizer booster shots could be available as early as this week. Hopefully the third time’s the charm. Social security payments, child tax credits and food stamps could all be delayed by a possible upcoming government shutdown. Economists also fear it could set off a recession that would wipe out millions of jobs. The government will shut down if Democrats and Republicans can’t work out a debt ceiling deal before the mid-October deadline. So in other words, we’re screwed. (Additional out) Hopefully they learned their lesson from the past 7 times this has happened.

Tease: In _____ minutes, now they say this fat is good for you

People who eat more dairy fat have a lower risk of heart disease according to a new study. An international team of scientists studied the dairy consumption of 4,150 60-year-olds in Sweden, a country with one of the highest levels of dairy consumption, by measuring blood levels of a particular fatty acid found in dairy foods. They then watched them all for 16 years to see how many had heart attacks and the results showed that those who ate more dairy fat fared better. Good to hear that my all cheese diet will finally pay off. (Additional out) That’s an interesting way to do a study, ‘eat all this cheese and let us know when you keel over.’

Phone Topic/Web Poll: Johnny Depp spoke out against cancel culture.
