Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, what the CDC says about Labor Day travel

The CDC has asked unvaccinated Americans not to travel during the Labor Day weekend adding that even the vaccinated need to weigh the risk. Of those eligible for vaccines, 38.6% of Americans are not yet fully vaccinated. On a brighter note, the number of new daily US cases has risen less over the past week that at any point since June leading some to ask if the Delta surge has peaked. But lets hold off on throwing another victory party for a few weeks just in case. (Additional out) But I’m through trying to predict what this stupid virus will do.

Tease: In ______ minutes, a new study finds human infants laugh similar to this species

The laughing patterns of human infants match those of great apes according to a study published today in Biology Letters. Human adults primarily laugh while exhaling, whereas infants and great apes like chimpanzees and bonobos laugh during both inhalation and exhalation. Of course, Peek-A-Boo is hilarious, you can’t just wait until you’re exhaling to laugh at it. (Additional Out) But unlike Chimpanzees, babies rarely eat your face off.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the new challenges facing Gulf Coast residents after Ida

Widespread power outages in Louisiana are expected to last for weeks as intense heat moves into the region. At the same time, critical supplies such as water, groceries and gasoline have been depleted, leading to hours long lines at the gas stations that still have fuel. The power outages have left some Louisiana residents to face heat indexes of 107 degrees without air conditioning. As we’re reminded how old and outdated our power grid is for a few days before forgetting again. (Additional) But at least the melodramatic reporters who feel its necessary to stand in a storm to show us how wind works have left.

Tease: In _____ minutes, what’s next for this veteran QB who was cut yesterday

NFL analysts believe Cam Newton’s days as an NFL starter are over. After the Patriots released the veteran QB yesterday it’s clear the league believes he no longer possesses the skills to be a starter. Also, he’s unvaccinated, meaning teams may not want to risk bringing him in as a backup and exposing their quarterback rooms. Newton is a former MVP and holds the record for career QB rushing touchdowns with 70. Being that he’s earned north of $122 million during his decade in the NFL, I think Cam will be fine. (Additional out) Plus, he basically carried the entire Carolina Panthers’ team on his back for their Super Bowl run in 2016.

Phone Topic/Web Poll In a new survey 19% of Americans say their kids can’t swim because of the high cost of swim lessons.
