Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the unsung heroes of the election

Poll workers turned out to be the unsung heroes of the 2020 election. The estimated 460,000 poll workers nation-wide worked long hours for little pay with the average poll worker making roughly $10 to $12 per hour. This year in battle ground states they had to do the tedious work of sorting and counting ballots while the entire world watched, and they did it all during a global pandemic. Plus, they had to work around lawyers from both sides, nosy reporters and protesters yelling contradictory messages at them. (Additional out) While the rest of us yelled at them through the TV for various reasons.

Tease: In ______ minutes, I’ll tell you how many states are seeing a covid spike

42 states reported at least 10% more new Covid-19 cases this past week. There were 105,297 new coronavirus cases reported Sunday, marking the 5th day in a row that new cases topped 100,000 according to John Hopkins University. One health expert compared the new outbreaks to ‘pouring gasoline on a fire.’ Which is never a phrase you want to hear a doctor use. (Additional out) Which is the closest doctors ever come to saying ‘we’re screwed’.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the two new dogs who’ll call the White House home

German shepherds Major and Champ will soon call the White House home. After four years without dogs, President Elect Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden will usher in two new first dogs, and the first ever rescue dogs, when they make the move to the White House in late January. Meaning one lucky Secret Service Agent will be back on poop duty. (Additional Out) Roughly around the time Nevada finally finishes counting votes.

Tease: In _____ minutes, the hyperloop inches closer to becoming a reality

The Virgin Hyperloop gave the first ride to passengers on its test track Sunday in Las Vegas. However, it will likely be years before the public can take a high-speed ride on one. A hyperloop is an unproven transportation system where people travel in a vacuum tube at speeds as high as 600 mph. Basically, it’s like a super fast, very boring roller coaster. (Additional Out) So essentially it’s a train where, if you dose off, you’ll wake up on the other side of the country.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: Clemson fell three spots after their double-overtime loss to Notre Dame. It was Clemson’s second game without star QB Trevor Lawrence. The loss means 6 and 0 Alabama is the new number one in the coaches poll, followed by Notre Dame and Ohio State. What do you think, should Alabama be ranked number one?
