Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, some good and bad news about covid

A second US covid vaccine has a stunningly high success rate. Yesterday Moderna announced its coronavirus vaccine is 94.5% effective. However, the US has added more than 100,000 confirmed covid cases for two weeks straight after adding another 160,000 yesterday. Governors in Oklahoma, California and other states have announced new restrictions to help slow the spread of the virus. As part of their “Maybe this will work” campaign. (Additional out) Pleasing fifty percent of their voters and enraging the other fifty percent.

Tease: In _____ minutes, I’ll tell you which city will likely host next year’s NCAA tournament

Indianapolis will likely host next year’s NCAA tournament. The NCAA is in preliminary talks with the city about holding their entire college basketball tournament there in 2021. Typically, the event is sprawled across thirteen sites throughout the US. But, next year it appears that all sixty eight teams will converge on Indianapolis. None of which will keep my bracket from being ruined a few days in. (Additional out) As the NCAA continues to work hard to protect the millions they make off of the athletes they don’t pay.

Tease: Coming up at ______, the astronauts have docked

After 27 hours in orbit the SpaceX Crew Dragon has docked with the International Space Station. This marks the first fully operational crewed mission for SpaceX after their May test mission. The four astronaut crew will stay aboard the space station for six months. Just long enough to hear all of each other’s jokes but not long enough to turn on each other. (Additional out) Then they’ll return to Earth provided we haven’t blown it up yet.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this NBA star just turned down a $50 million a year extension

James Harden has reportedly turned down an extension worth $50 million a year to stay with the Houston Rockets. Instead Harden has told them to trade him to the Brooklyn Nets where he could play alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The deal would’ve made James Harden the first $50 million per year player in NBA history. Apparently, he just really wants new teammates to not throw the ball to. (Additional Out) Which sounds insane unless you’ve ever lived in Houston.
