Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, cases surge but treatments progress

Worldwide the coronavirus is spreading faster than at any other point. The US and Europe are both setting records for new cases, while South America, North Africa, India and other regions also cope with serious outbreaks. On a brighter note, researchers are making rapid progress on both potential vaccines and treatments that can reduce Covid’s worst symptoms. Come on science nerds, its your time to shine. (Additional out) Which is good news because my quarantine fifteen will turn into a quarantine fifty soon.

Tease: In ______ minutes, what happens if the supreme court strikes down Obamacare

If the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare it will end the insurance ban on discriminating against pre-existing conditions. Plus, it would put health insurance and Medicaid coverage at risk for millions of Americans. Today the nation’s highest court hears arguments on the future of the Affordable Care Act. It’s the 3rd time the Supreme Court has weighed in on the law, having twice upheld it, but the first time the law is before the court with three justices appointed by Trump. And the first time during a global pandemic. (Additional out) I’m pretty sure after living through 2020 we all have pre-existing conditions.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this is the most popular Thanksgiving side dish

Mashed potatoes are the most popular Thanksgiving side dish. Zippia and Google trends put out a map of the favorite side dishes in each state and mashed potatoes topped the list in ten states. Mac and cheese was a close second followed by green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. Two dishes so good we only eat them one day a year. (Additional Out) I’d say gravy is our favorite side but at our house it’s more of a main dish.

Tease: Coming up at _____, covid outbreaks shake up college football

Several high-profile college football teams are dealing with Covid outbreaks. Texas A&M paused team activities after ‘a couple of positive cases’, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman tested positive, Mississippi State is still quarantining multiple players and staff and several LSU players have tested positive for coronavirus. Apparently, this year the College Football Playoff will be decided by Covid instead of the selection committee. (Additional Out) Hopefully they’ll get a handle on it so I still have a reason to avoid my family on Saturdays.
