Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, this diet may prevent memory loss

The Mediterranean diet may prevent memory loss and dementia. According to a new study meals inspired by traditional foods from the sunny Mediterranean may lower your risk for dementia by interfering with the buildup of two proteins that are hallmarks of Alzheimer’s. For every point of higher compliance with the diet, people had one extra year less of brain aging. Unfortunately, complying with any diet has never been my strong suit. (Additional out) Which is good because my brain has aged terribly.

Tease: In ______ minutes, Facebook says they won’t police this

Facebook says it does not want to police truth. The company’s independent board justified their ban on Trump yesterday based on his incitement of violence before and during the capitol attack and not on falsehoods. The board recommended extending the ban another six months, when it will be revisited. Gotta love it when you hire an ‘independent’ board to make the hard call and they punt it back to you. (Additional Out) Adding, look if we kicked everyone who lies on social media off, there’d be no one on social media.

Tease: Coming up at _____, a hockey game broke out during the brawl last night between these two teams

There were six fights in the opening period of the Rangers Capitals hockey game last night including an all-out brawl. The bad blood between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals began Monday when Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson committed a series of penalties, including one that knocked Rangers’ star Artemi Panarin out for the season. The NHL fined Wilson just $5,000 for the incident. Because it’s always effective to give someone a slap on the wrist when they commit assault at work. (Additional out) Roughly a tenth of what the NBA fines players for being late to a press conference nobody watches.

Bidding is open for the first space tourism trip in July. The Blue Origin rocket company has offered one seat to the winner of a five-week online auction who’ll get to join astronauts on a ride past the edge of space. The rocket will reportedly go high enough to experience a few minutes of weightlessness before returning to earth under parachutes. But if things go wrong you know the first person they’re gonna jettison is the guy who bought his ticket on Ebay. (Additional out). I’m gonna bid just so I can play my favorite game, ‘what does this button do?’

Phone Topic/Web Poll: Twitter announced a new feature that detects ‘mean’ replies and prompts users to review their reply before sending it. The prompt will say ‘Want to review this before Tweeting?’ giving you the option to tweet as is, edit or delete. The tech company tested the prompts last year and said they led to fewer offensive replies so now it’s rolling them out widely. What do you think, should Twitter warn you before you send a mean tweet?
