Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, where a number of gas stations are out of fuel

A growing number of gas stations on the east coast are out of fuel. The shortage was caused by nervous drivers aggressively filling up their tanks following the ransomware attack that shut down the Colonial Pipeline. The panic-buying threatens to worsen the supply shock. I’m assuming the panic buying was done by the same people who still have a basement full of toilet paper. (Additional Out) So we’ll know who to thank when gas hits 4 bucks.

Tease: In ______ minutes, more positive Covid news

It appears we’ve successfully avoided the fourth wave many health experts feared. Cases and hospitalizations continue to fall in the US. A CDC advisory panel will meet today to discuss whether to recommend Pfizer’s vaccine in 12 to 15 year olds. Plus, Uber and Lyft announced they’ll provide free rides to vaccination sites from May 24th to July 4th. A good opportunity to dust off the app none of us have used in over a year. (Additional Out) In case you want to have an awkward forced conversation with a stranger on your way to and from getting vaccinated.

Tease: Coming up at _____, what the voyager space craft picked up beyond our solar system

A ‘persistent hum’ was detected beyond our solar system by the Voyager spacecraft. The craft that launched 43 years ago has moved past the edge of our solar system but still sends back data. Its instruments recently detected the sounds of plasma waves. Aliens if you’re trying to contact us, now’s not a good time. (Additional out) How come we could make a spacecraft that lasts over forty years back in 1977, but the toaster I bought two months ago is already broken?

Tease: In _____ minutes, Medina Spirit’s odds after the Preakness announcement

According to oddsmakers, Medina Spirit has the best chance of winning the Preakness Stakes with a 9-5 morning line, following by Concert Tour at 5-2. Yesterday the Preakness Stakes and trainer Bob Baffert came to an agreement that would allow the horse to run in the second leg of the triple crown. Medina Spirit won the Kentucky Derby but later failed a drug test because of a joint medication. And no it’s not the same joint medication that Snoop and Willie take. (Additional out). So now it will have the honor of running fast around a track while a tiny man whips it for our viewing pleasure this Saturday.
