Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, why Tide wants us to stop using warm water for laundry
To help save the planet, Tide wants you to quit using warm water for laundry. The goal is for consumers in North America to do three out of every four loads of laundry with cold water instead of hot by 2030, up from about half today, to lower power consumption. They say it saves you $150 a year in energy costs and your garments will last longer. Or you can try my old college roommate’s approach of just never doing laundry. (Additional out) Or you can save even more money by buying cheaper detergent that’s just as good as Tide.
Tease: In ______ minutes, a real-life Mario Kart race
The world’s first Super Nintendo World has opened inside Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. The life-sized Mushroom Kingdom features Koopa’s Challenge: a real-life Mario Kart Race through Bowser’s Castle. Riders wear augmented-reality headsets to see the projections of other characters and the track as well as to collect coins and throw items. I feel like I’ve been training for this day my whole life. (Additional out) Which is good because when I’m at the local go kart track and start throwing things at competitors, everyone freaks out.
Tease: Coming up at _____, the IRS pushes back the tax deadline
Americans will have until May 17th to file their federal taxes because of the pandemic. The IRS will delay its customary April 15th tax filing deadline to May 17th to give taxpayers some breathing room in this unusually chaotic filing season. The extra time applies to individual taxpayers. Meaning I can now wait until May 16th to do my annual tradition of freaking out and doing my taxes at the last minute. (Additional out) Makes sense, that way my stimulus money is long gone before its time to pay my taxes.
Tease: In _____ minutes, another woman comes forward to accuse this NFL QB
A second masseuse has come forward to accuse Houston Texans QB DeShaun Watson of inappropriate conduct during massages. Houston based lawyer Tony Buzbee filed both complaints and claims that there are four additional women accusers. These are civil lawsuits and Watson has denied the claims and said he rejected ‘a baseless six-figure settlement demand’ and this is ‘about clearing my name.’ The NFL has declined to comment at this time. And so will I so I don’t get yelled at on Twitter. (Additional out) While they wait for the news cycle to move on.
