United Airlines plans to resume supersonic flights by 2029. The airline announced a deal to buy 15 supersonic jets. The plane, dubbed the ‘Overture’ is made by Boom Supersonic and will fly at Mach 1.7, roughly twice as fast as today’s commercial jets. That means it could fly from London to Newark, New Jersey in just three and a half hours. But why would anyone want to go to Newark, New Jersey.
