Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, things aren’t going smoothly with the New York Mayor’s race

135,000 test ballots were accidentally counted with actual ballots in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary according to the board of elections. Those results appeared to give Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams a razor-thin lead over Kathryn Garcia, but were quickly pulled down once the discrepancy was discovered. That should instill confidence in the integrity of the process. (Additional Out) But, I’m sure no one will take political advantage of this honest mistake.

Tease: In ______ minutes, why you may have to pay more for fireworks this year

Fireworks will be in short supply this year. For the second year in a row, fireworks shortages are leaving shelves empty and hiking prices leading up to the July 4th weekend. Supply chain issues and congestion at ports are to blame. So if you want fireworks, get there early and be prepared to pay more. Or do what I do and just watch your neighbor's fireworks display. (Additional Out) Which means many of us will have to come up with other ways to hurt ourselves this holiday weekend.

Tease: Coming up at _____, it looks like gamers will be waiting a long time for Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be released until 2025. The heavily anticipated game will be set in a modern-day Vice City and have an evolving map like Fortnite. However, notable game leaker Tom Henderson says Rockstar isn’t in a hurry to release GTA 6, so it won’t come out for four more years. But cut Rockstar some slack, it takes a lot of time to build an incredibly elaborate and inappropriate video game. (Additional Out) So in the meantime gamers will have to play GTA online to sharpen their crime skills.

Tease: In _____ minutes, we may finally have a flying car

The Jetsons may soon become reality. A flying car just completed a test flight before reporters. AirCar flew for a full 35 minutes between two Slovakian cities this week. Once it landed it took less than three minutes to transform it back into a car that then drove through town. It has a BMW engine, runs on normal gasoline and can fly about 600 miles at a height of 8,200 feet. Excuse my skepticism but I’ll wait for the 2.0 model before I take to the skies. (Additional out) So not quite Doc Brown’s flying Delorean, but close.

Phone Topic/Web Poll The NCAA is expected to approve athlete compensation through endorsement deals today. If approved it would go into effect tomorrow. After the Division One Council recommended it on Monday, the Board of Directors will meet today to approve allowing students to earn money from their name, images or likeness. What do you think is this a good thing or bad thing for college sports?
