Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the voting rights bill goes down

The voting rights bill failed to advance on a filibustered party-line procedural vote. After months of negotiations all 50 Democrats voted to open debate on the bill, while all 50 Republicans voted no. Hence it fell short of the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster. Providing yet another perfect metaphor for how divided we are. (Additional Out) Something that used to be a rarity, but now it’s the industry standard in DC.

Tease: In ______ minutes, the pistachio bandit has been caught

You can rest easy, the man who allegedly stole 42,000 pounds of pistachios has been found. California authorities have arrested 34-year-old Alberto Montemayor, a driver for Touchstone Pistachio Company who they say made off with the truckload of stolen nuts and attempted to sell them on the black market. Why would someone want to steal 21 tons of the world’s worst nut? (Additional Out) Wasn’t aware there was a black market for pistachios but I assume it’s like a dark web for squirrels.

Tease: Coming up at _____, a Covid warning from health experts

Experts say the dangerous Delta variant could cause a full-on Covid resurgence in the US this fall. Recent models show that even coupled with 75% of eligible Americans getting vaccinated we could see a big increase of cases in the fall and winter. Plus, we’re far away from a 75% vaccination rate, currently we’re falling short of making Biden’s 70% goal by the 4th of July. I hope we don’t have a resurgence, I was just getting used to showering daily and wearing pants again. (Additional Out) And you know how grumpy Grandpa President gets when we disappoint him.
