Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, Elsa heads toward Florida

Florida is bracing for Tropical Storm Elsa. The storm carries a potential for a life-threatening storm surge, heavy rains and damaging winds, including the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Elsa is expected to impact Southwest Florida today. I knew if we named a storm after a beloved Disney character it would come back to bite us. (Additional Out) So expect every reporter who drew the short straw to throw on a rain coat and go live from Florida for a few days.

Tease: In ______ minutes, how many business were hit by the latest ransomware attack

Between 800 and 1,500 businesses have likely been hit by the ransomware attack on software vendor Kaseya, whose products are widely used by IT companies. The malicious software was created by REvil, a ransomware gang believed to be operating out of Eastern Europe. The group is demanding $70 million in bitcoin for a decryptor tool. Sounds like something you’d get in a cereal box, not something you’d use to solve a sophisticated computer hack. (Additional Out) I think it’s time we send Liam Neeson over there to rough some people up.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the case rates in low vax states versus high vax states

US states with below-average vaccination rates have almost triple the rate of new Covid-19 cases compared to states with above-average vaccination rates. Get a link to the interactive county and state vaccination progress map on our website. The highly contagious Delta variant continues to spread across the US and cause surges in areas with low vaccination rates. Despite the Biden’s summer tour. (Additional Out) So if you haven’t already, get your shot today so you can join in on hot vax summer.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this music legend’s daughter just made the olympics

Rock icon Bruce Springsteen’s only daughter Jessica Springsteen has been named to the US Olympic equestrian jumping team. Jessica, a champion equestrian, was one of four riders named to the team yesterday, along with her horse Don Juan van de Donkhoeve. Might need to work on her horse naming skills a bit, but either way, congrats! (Additional out) I’d of named the horse Born to Run but that’s because I’m a music nerd.
