US swimmer Katie Lidecky won gold in the 1,500-meter freestyle, her 6th Olympic gold medal overall. US softball lost to Japan in the final, taking silver. Plus, the US men’s basketball team bounced back routing Iran 120 to 66. Apparently that loss to France lit a fire under them. Tease: In ___­­­­___ minutes, how many US counties fall under the new mask guidance  

Nearly two-thirds of US counties are considered high transmission areas, meaning they fall under the CDC’s revised mask guidance. Yesterday the CDC updated their mask guidance to recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors in those high transmission areas. It also includes everyone in schools. Meaning it should cut down on cooties transmission as well. (Additional Out) So, back to looking like a ninja at the grocery store for a while.

A New York City restaurant unveiled $200 french fries that are literally covered in gold. The restaurant, Serendipity 3, already claims world records for the most expensive burger, $295, and a $1,000 ice cream sundae. As of this month their new fries sprinkled with edible gold and blanched in vinegar and champagne are officially the most expensive on earth. Plus, its working, there’s an 8 to 10 week wait list for the $200 french fries. I’ll stick with my Big Mac, McDonald’s fries and a McFlurry. (Additional Out) I assume the chef would be offended when I order a side of Ranch with it.

Walmart will pay for full college tuition and book costs as some schools for its US workers. It’s the latest effort by America’s largest retailer to sweeten its benefits to attract and retain talent in a tight job market. The program includes 10 academic partners ranging from the University of Arizona to Southern New Hampshire University. Participants must remain full or part-time employees at Walmart to remain eligible. Free college and you get to see the stars of the People of Walmart website daily, sign me up. (Additional out) In a related story Amazon is now supplying free adult diapers to their employees they won’t let take bathroom breaks.

On Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast the celebrity couple admitted that they didn’t bathe their kids, or themselves, daily because it robs the body of natural oils. They added that their rule with the kids is ‘if you can see dirt on them, clean them.’ What do you think, how often should you bathe yourself or your kids, daily, every other day, or less?
