Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, some good Covid news

For the first time the US is experiencing a sharp and sustained decline in new coronavirus cases. New cases in the US have fallen 35% over the past three weeks. Hospitalizations have dropped as well. Health experts are urging caution in lifting restrictions too early and continue to recommend masks and social distancing until many more Americans get vaccinated. That’s especially important with new variants emerging, but if we stay diligent about following safety measures this could be a turning point. So only a few more months of maskne and smelling my own breath all day. (Additional out) Herd immunity here we come!

Tease: In ______ minutes, first it was GameStop, now Redditors are building up another stock

AMC is the latest stock Reddit users are teaming up to prop up. Yesterday was a wild day on Wall Street as Redditors coordinated a mass buying spree of GameStop and AMC stocks, deliberately upending hedge funds and short sellers who were betting the retailer and theater chain stocks would crash. Both AMC and GameStop spiked so rapidly they triggered automatic halts designed to protect against volatility. Its good to see Reddit being used for something other than people arguing about who the worst Batman was, and yes its Ben Affleck. (Additional out) Quick question, if you buy stock in AMC do you still have to pay $9 for popcorn?

Tease: Coming up at _____, this former Baywatch star just married her bodyguard

Pamela Anderson married her bodyguard. The former Baywatch actress just announced that she tied the knot with her bodyguard Dan Hayhurst over the holidays at her home on Vancouver Island. A source close to the actress told CNN, “Pamela is the happiest she’s ever been” and Dan “Married the literal girl of his dreams.” The news comes less than a year after she married Jon Peters for 12 days. So basically they made it through the honeymoon plus five days. (Additional out) I smell a Bodyguard sequel with much worse acting in the works.

Tease: In _____ minutes, thanks to TikTok we finally know what the bottom drawer of an oven is for

Apparently, the bottom drawer of an oven is for keeping food warm after it comes out of the oven. A TikTok video is going viral of Aaron Patterson asking how old his viewers were when they found out that the drawer underneath the oven isn’t made to store things. Yesterday, but I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t know that. (Additional Out) See TikTok isn’t just for dancing and ill-advised challenges.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: Have you also run out of things to binge and started rewatching series? If so, what TV shows from the past ten to twenty years could you watch again from start to finish? Breaking Bad, Sopranos, New Girl, Deadwood, Mad Men, The Office, Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, The Americans, The Good Place or something else?

A: 2%

B: 8%

C: 14%
