Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, how to watch today’s Mars rover landing

You can watch the Mars Perseverance rover landing live this afternoon on NASA’s public TV channel, website app, YouTube Twitter, Facebook or other platforms. The rover will explore Jezero Crater, the site of an ancient lake that existed 3.9 billion years ago and search for microfossils. Live coverage starts at 2:15pm ET and NASA’s most sophisticated rover to date is expected to land on the surface of Mars at around 3:55pm ET. Tune in to see what a 2.7 billion-dollar remote controlled car looks like.  (Additional out) So, I'll just tune in for the last five minutes when something’s actually happening.

Tease: In ______ minutes, Texas officials point fingers

The power debacle has led Texas officials to blame the power operator, wind turbines and the green new deal despite the fact that it hasn’t been passed yet. Governor Abbott and others continue to downplay or ignore Texas’ decision to isolate it’s power grid from the rest of the country. Hundreds of thousands of residents are still without power, millions are under water shortages or boil water notices and parts of the state are facing fuel shortages. Basically it’s like the winter of 1820 down there. (Additional out) Turns out there’s a downside to letting power companies regulate themselves.

Tease: Coming up at _____, radio loses a legend

Conservative media icon Rush Limbaugh lost his battle with cancer yesterday at the age of 70. Limbaugh was a talk radio legend and a trailblazer who paved the way for Fox News and alternative media. In December of 2019, Talkers Magazine estimated that Limbaugh’s show attracted a cumulative weekly audience of 15.5 million listeners to become the most listened to radio show in the US. Whether you agree with him politically or not, it’s hard to argue the massive impact Rush Limbaugh had on broadcasting.

Tease: In _____ minutes, how a cat saved his family

An Oregon family’s cat saved them from a potentially deadly gas leak. Recently Sandi Martin noticed her cat Lilly they adopted during the pandemic sniffing a valve by the fireplace. Martin then sniffed it herself and noticed a mild gas smell. Her husband confirmed it and they notified the gas company who told them to open the windows and shut off the gas. When they arrived the gas company confirmed the ‘dangerous gas leak’. Marking one of the first times in history a cat did something for someone other than themselves. (Additional out) Making up for every time the cat had woken them up randomly at 4am or walked to the middle of the new rug to vomit.
