Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, vaccine effectiveness against the variants

A top US health official says that Covid vaccine doses can be effective against variants. In Europe the UK variant is posing a growing threat and the WHO warned that more shutdowns may be necessary there. Here in the US, health officials say the majority of Americans could be vaccinated by the end of the summer. I assume the operative word there is “could”. (Additional out) Unless they listen to that lady from Singled Out.

Tease: In ______ minutes, an update on the woman who put gorilla glue in her hair

The woman who put gorilla glue in her hair when she ran out of hairspray is finally free of adhesive. This week we were all introduced to a young lady from Louisiana named Tessica Brown who’s unfortunate haircare mixup became an impenetrable helmet. A Beverly Hills surgeon offered his services for free and after a four-hour-long surgery, Brown’s head is now glue free. I think her and Zoom Cat Lawyer guy should get together, they sound like a good match. (Additional out) Remarkably the surgeon made it through the entire procedure without cracking any terrible pun jokes about her sticky situation.

Tease: Coming up at _____, this popular sports car may soon hover

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has suggested that an optional SpaceX package could enable the upcoming Tesla Roadster to hover. On Joe Rogan’s podcast Musk mentioned that one of the biggest hurdles his team must overcome is “trying to figure out how to make this thing hover, without, you know, killing people.” He suggested an altitude limit could make the new car’s hovering feature safe for the general public. So not quite the flying car of my childhood dreams yet, but getting close. (Additional Out) Unfortunately ‘safe for the general public’ and safe for captain injury prone over here are two vastly different things.

Tease: In _____ minutes, why fans are accusing the NFL of trying to protect Tom Brady

NFL films has audio of the Tom Brady Tyrann Mathieu altercation but has decided not to release it. That on-field beef just before halftime at last Sunday’s Super Bowl has been the source of much speculation after Mathieu tweeted and then deleted a post saying ‘He called me something I won’t repeat’. Despite Michael Irvin saying he’s heard the audio and it wasn’t anything bad, this move by the NFL will further fuel fan speculation. Just another example of Roger Goodell protecting the NFL’s golden boy. (Additional out) I’ll just wait for the NFL bad lip-reading version.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: Valentine’s Day is this Sunday, so if you haven’t made plans or bought a gift yet now’s the time to scramble and do so. According to a recent survey, 52% of Americans plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, spending a total of $21.8 billion. What do you think, should you give your partner a Valentine’s gift every year regardless of how long you’ve been together? Also, do flowers and/or dinner count as the gift?
