Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, this soccer great edges closer to the all-time record

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his 750th career goal, edging closer to the all-time record. Yesterday the 35-year-old soccer star scored a second half goal from no more than a yard out to double his team’s lead. 750 goals puts Ronaldo just 17 goals behind Pele and 22 behind Romario in the all-time charts according to a list compiled by the Soccer Statistics Foundation. Hopefully when he breaks the all-time record they’ll celebrate by building another statue that looks nothing like him. (Additional out) However, he does already hold the record for times he’s celebrated by ripping his shirt off and flexing for the crowd.

Tease: In ______ minutes, the CDC shortens the recommended quarantine time

The CDC now recommends quarantining for 7 days if you’re exposed to Covid-19. The old standard was 14 days, but the Centers for Disease Control in the US has reduced it. Now those without symptoms may end quarantine after 7 days with a negative test or after 10 days without a negative test. Which would be helpful if I was still keeping track of what day it was, my phone says its Thursday but that doesn’t feel right. (Additional out) Good news for the big guy in the red suit who’ll visit every home in the world in 21 days.

Tease: Coming up at _____, self-driving robotaxis are taking off in this country

Self-driving robotaxis are taking off in China. Yesterday AutoX announced it had rolled out fully driverless robotaxis on public roads in Shenzhen. The company said it had become the first player in China to do so. Previously companies operating autonomous cars on public roads had a safety driver inside. I’m out on robot taxis, who am I supposed to have an awkward five-minute conversation with. (Additional Out) Big deal, David Hasselhoff had a self-driving, talking robot car way back in 1982.
