Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, this popstar is engaged

Ariana Grande is off the market. Based on the pop star’s Instagram account, she’s engaged. Grande posted several pictures to her account featuring her and boyfriend Dalton Gomez followed by a huge ring. The ring is a large diamond solitaire with a pearl to one side of the stone. It definitely looks like something he picked out with no input from her. (Additional out) Hopefully it lasts longer than the ten minutes she was engaged to Pete Davidson.

Tease: In ______ minutes, who will get the next stimulus check

American households who make up to $75,000 per year will receive one-time stimulus checks of $600 per person. That’s the central part of a $900 billion dollar economic stimulus bill Congressional leaders agreed to over the weekend. It also includes an expansion of jobless benefits and money for schools and small businesses. A vote is expected today. It’s all part of Congress’ ‘maybe this will work round 2’ plan. (Additional out) See compromise is still possible, provided the economy is about to go over a cliff.

Tease: Coming up at _____, more Americans are following in Elmer Fudd’s footsteps

More Americans are hunting. After a decline for most of the past four decades, the sales of hunting licenses are up by 12 percent this year. Fishing licenses are also up 14%. Hunting is an activity seemingly designed for a pandemic, its outdoors, thrives in small groups and features built in social-distancing. Plus, it’s great training for the impending apocalypse. (Additional out) And it’s an excuse to get away from your family and drink heavily.

Tease: In _____ minutes, where a new variation of Covid has shown up

A new Covid-19 variation has been detected in the UK. The variant spreads more easily, but doesn’t appear to be deadlier or resistant to vaccines.  The new strain has caused other countries to ban travelers from Britain and prompted the UK government to impose a tier 4 lockdown in London and southeastern England. Two places I know well after binging all four seasons of The Crown. (Additional Out) More bad news for British Trump.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: A Spam burger topped with crushed Oreos is on the menu at McDonald’s in China. According to reports around 400,000 of the limited edition burgers will be sold in China. What do you think, would you eat an Oreo Spam Burger?

A: 9 years

B: 10 years
