Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the first Western country approves a vaccine

Britain has approved Pfizer’s vaccine. That makes it the first Western country to do so, allowing mass inoculations to fight Covid-19 starting next week. Here in the US a panel of scientific advisors have recommended that health care workers and nursing home residents receive the vaccine first once it gets FDA approval. Which should happen any day now since British Trump’s government beat us to the punch. (Additional out) Followed by people over 65, those with pre-existing conditions, essential workers, the general public and finally ending with people who ignore the social distancing markers at the store.

Tease: In ______ minutes, meet Elliot Page

Ellen Page is now Elliot Page. The ‘Juno’ star announced yesterday that they are transgender and identify as non-binary. That’s a term used to describe a person whose gender is neither man nor woman. The Oscar-nominated actor, formerly known as Ellen Page, wrote on Instagram, “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.” Adding, ‘following Caitlyn Jenner’s lead, except for the whole running someone over part.’ (Additional out) Just a little pop culture news I’m sure you’ll have no problem discussing with your grandparents.

Tease: Coming up at _____, a possible pardon for money scandal

The DOJ is looking into a presidential pardon for money crime. According to documents unsealed yesterday in a federal court, the Justice Department is investigating a potential crime related to funneling money to the White House, or a related political committee, in exchange for a presidential pardon. If it involves a Joe Exotic pardon I can only assume the fee was paid in half used Applebee's gift cards. (Additional Out) Which is odd, typically pardons are reserved exclusively for rich family friends and people who kept their mouth shut about your involvement in a crime.

Tease: In _____ minutes, Apple’s Apps of the Year

Wakeout! Is the iPhone App of the Year. Apple announced their 2020 list of top apps on each of their platforms and the app that encourages working out anytime, anywhere was number one on the iPhone. See the full list on our website, but some others include Zoom as the best iPad app and Disney+ as the Apple TV App of the Year. Which has to feel awkward for the people who work at Apple TV. (Additional Out) The home of Baby Yoda and virtually nothing else.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: According to a new poll, 74% of Americans are buying gifts for others so they can use them too. A poll of 2,000 Americans looked at the trend of “wegifting" and found that nearly three quarters of people admit to purchasing gifts that not only benefit the recipient, but themselves as well. What about you, are you a “wegifter”?
