Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the Voice crowns a winner

Carter Rubin took the title last night on the Voice giving Team Gwen her first win. At just 15, Rubin is the show’s youngest male winner ever. The Long Island native beat out four others including John Holiday from John Legend’s team, Desz from Kelly Clarkson’s team, and Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan, both from Team Blake. Rubin will take home a hundred grand and a recording contract with Republic Records. For our younger listeners, record labels are how artists made it famous before TikTok. (Additional out) So at least someone had a good 2020.

Tease: In ______ minutes, our cases go up while theirs go down

In the US Covid cases have risen 51% over the last week while worldwide cases have gone down this past month. Experts attribute that to targeted restrictions and increased rapid-results testing. On a brighter note the FDA is expected to approve Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine by Friday, ensuring millions more Americans will have access to inoculations. As we try to science our way out of this crisis. (Additional out) Which is good news because my hair is starting to get out of control and I haven’t worn pants in months.

Tease: Coming up at _____, this player just signed the biggest contract in NBA history

Giannis Antetokounmpo (Yonnis Antay-tu-koompo) just signed the most lucrative contract in NBA history. The winner of the MVP award for the past two season has inked a $228 million dollar deal to stay with the Milwaukee Bucks for the next five years. With 60, the NBA now has by far the most players who earn at least $20 mil a year compared to the MLB’s 35 and the NFL’s 30. Which is sad because that’s less than Jerry Jones pays his plastic surgeon in a year. (Additional out) Plus, the NBA actively tried to keep their players from catching Covid.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this movie star just blew up on the crew of his new movie

Audio has leaked of Tom Cruise going ballistic on the ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ crew for breaking COVID social distancing protocols. In it Cruise yells ‘You can tell’ your apologies ‘to the people who are losing their’ expletive’ homes because our industry is shut down.’ According to reports the COVID protocols the crew broke were simply standing too close to each other while looking at a monitor, not breaking curfew or taking off their masks. Plus, I’m assuming one of them had accidentally made eye contact with Tom. (Additional Out) But, I’m pretty sure getting cursed out by a superstar is a right of passage in Hollywood.
