Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the government goes after Facebook

The Federal Trade Commission wants to break Facebook up and force them to spin off Instagram and WhatsApp. The social media giant has 3 billion users across its portfolio of apps. Dozens of states and the federal government sued Facebook in two antitrust lawsuits alleging they abused their dominance in the marketplace and engaged in anti-competitive behavior. Meaning we’ll likely get more congressional hearings where lawmakers pretend to know how social media works. (Additional out) And to think, it all started because some guy wanted to get back at his college ex.

Tease: In ______ minutes, another ally approves the vaccine before us

Canada approved Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine yesterday. Our friendly neighbors to the north could begin administering shots as early as next week. Britain has already begun using the vaccine. Here in the US, the FDA has not yet approved the use of any vaccine, but its expected to do so any day now. Apparently, we’ve forgotten to push the warp button on ‘operation warp speed’. (Additional out) Canada, come for the maple syrup and nice people, stay for the free healthcare and vaccines.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the price of this fast-food staple may increase next year

Happy Meals may get more expensive in 2021. Beginning next year McDonald’s will end a program with franchisees that subsidized the cost of Happy Meal toys. That move could force franchise owners to increase the price of Happy Meals by 20 cents next year to offset the cost. “Good news kiddo, instead of a toy, you’ll get a lesson in how subsidies work.” (Additional out) Or they could keep them the same price, drop the toy and call them Unhappy Meals.

Tease: In _____ minutes, why China told flight attendants to wear diapers

China has advised flight attendants to wear diapers for Covid protection. With the pandemic surging worldwide the Civil Aviation Administration of China released new guidelines for the country’s airline industry. One of those suggestions was for personnel like flight attendants to wear disposable diapers so they don’t need to use the bathroom. Makes sense, who doesn’t want to be served peanuts and a vodka soda from someone who’s mid-poop. (Additional Out) I say just use baby flight attendants, they’re less susceptible to the virus and already in diapers.
