Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, when Biden wants half of US vehicles sold to be electric

Half of all vehicles sold in the US by 2030 will be electric. President Biden announced the new target date yesterday at the White House, giving manufacturers until the end of the decade to make half of their fleet electric, fuel-cell electric or plug-in hybrids. He was joined by representatives from Ford, GM and Stellantis. I guess Elon Musk’s invitation got lost in the mail. (Additional Out) Decent timing considering gas is $3.20 a gallon.

Tease: In ______ minutes, your Olympic update

Olympic spoiler alert, April Ross and Alix Klineman took home gold in women’s beach volleyball for team USA after beating Australia. In other Olympic news, the US women’s indoor team will play for the gold medal Sunday. Plus, American sprinter Allyson Felix will run in the 400-meter dash final. If she makes a podium she’ll have ten, the most Olympic medals in the history of women’s track and field. The US now has a commanding lead in the medal count over China. Looks like the US women are continuing to carry the men again this year. (Additional Out) Democracy one, communism zero.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the US state where a venomous African banded cobra is roaming loose

A venomous West African banded cobra has been missing in a Texas neighborhood since Tuesday. Wildlife experts in Grand Prairie, Texas, are searching and setting out traps in hopes of catching the deadly snake. The owner of the six-foot-long cobra realized the snake had escaped its enclosure at 5pm on Tuesday and called 911. Reason number 7,001 why you shouldn’t keep a cobra as a pet. (Additional Out) That’s gonna make their next homeowner’s association meeting a little awkward.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this sports legend is leaving his long-time team

Lionel Messi will leave FC Barcelona where he has played since he was 13. While both Messi and the club had agreed to a five-year extension, La Liga’s salary cap rules mean that despite the parties agreement, the new contract cannot be signed under new league rules. Agreeing to La Liga’s proposed sale of a ten percent stake to a private equity firm would’ve allowed FC Barcelona to keep Messi, but the club refused to back that deal. I’m sure that will sit well with the fans. (Additional out) Why would they, he’s only the greatest player of all time.
