So far 28,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan by the US and allies since August 14th. But, violent scenes outside the airport continue with roughly 20,000 people waiting in and around the facility to be evacuated. The Pentagon has ordered six commercial airlines to provide passenger jets to aid in the evacuation. If you look out the right side of our plane you’ll see the result of not really thinking through an evac plan. (Additional Out) Hopefully none of which are Spirit Airlines, those evacuees have been through enough.

Miguel Cabrera becomes the latest baseball player to join the MLB’s 500 home run club. The Detroit Tiger’s first baseman hit his 500th career homer yesterday against the Blue Jays in Toronto. Cabrera is in his 19th season and he becomes only the 28th baseball player to join the elite club. Fourteen of which did it in the pre-steroid era. (Additional Out) Meaning he’s now in the company of Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and that guy J-Lo dumped.

Tropical Storm Henri (On-ree) made landfall yesterday on the Rhode Island coast, bringing widespread power outages and damaging storm surge. It has since weakened to a tropical depression. In Tennessee, swift and severe flooding brought on by record rain is ravaging the state. On the other coast, nine national forests in California are closed today as firefighters fight to contain 11 large wildfires. Its almost as if the planet is trying to tell us something. The internet can’t get enough of the Milk Crate Challenge. The viral trend involves participants attempting to climb a staircase of milk crates without falling. Though it may sound like a pretty simple task, the challenge has proven to be quite difficult for most people. So much so, that people are even placing large bets on who can and can’t complete it. Pretty sure hospitals are busy enough, let’s hold off on this one for a few more weeks. (Additional out) Well played Lowes, that’s one way to unload a bunch of milk crates, start a dumb challenge.  

Phone Topic/Web Poll Full FDA approval of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine is ‘imminent’ according to a senior federal official. It could come as early as today or at the least in the next two weeks. Up until now Pfizer’s vaccine has been distributed under an emergency use authorization. What do you think, will we see a lot more vaccine mandates this week once Pfizer is approved?

[Contest setup] If you had a copy of the Legend of Zelda game, hopefully you hung on to it. A Goodwill thrift store just made some big bucks off an unopened copy of the Legend of Zelda NES game from 1987. It had been left in storage for 35 years before a person donated it to their local Goodwill in Connecticut. How much did the mint copy of Zelda sell for?  

A: $211,000  

B: $311,000  

C: $411,000  

Answer: C, the sealed NES copy of Legend of Zelda sold for a whopping $411,278. After it was donated anonymously, and now I assume, ‘regrettably.’
