Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, a few takeaways from the census

A slower growing but more multiracial society, that’s one of the takeaways from the new US census data. Also, cities are outpacing rural areas with all ten of the largest US cities seeing their population rise in the past decade. Phoenix is the fastest growing big city in the country, surpassing Philadelphia as the fifth largest. Apparently, Carson Wentz wasn’t the only one who moved out of Philly. (Additional Out) Now the mad dash of politicians redrawing maps to make it impossible for them to lose.

Tease: In ______ minutes, Jamie Spears gives in to the pressure

Britney’s father Jamie Spears says he intends to step down as conservator of the singer’s estate. Jamie has been serving as co-conservator of his daughter’s estimated $60 million fortune for more than a decade. Recently, Britney Spears has gotten more vocal in her opposition to the conservatorship, calling it ‘cruelty’ and ‘abuse.’ As you might know from watching one of the nineteen documentaries about it. (Additional Out) I guess Jamie got tired of being one of the most hated men in America.

Tease: Coming up at _____, another city restricts the unvaccinated

San Francisco will bar unvaccinated people from many indoor and outdoor gathers even if they prove they tested negative for Covid-19. The new mandate will go into effect August 20th. Under the order, San Franciscans will have to be vaccinated to work in or visit indoor restaurants, bars, gyms and entertainment venues including concerts and sporting events. Or they’ll have to know someone with a printer. (Additional Out) So if they want to watch the niners this year they’ll have to be on team vaccinated.

Tease: In _____ minutes, the Field of Dreams game didn’t disappoint

A movie-worthy walk-off home run ended last night’s Field of Dreams game. The White Sox and the Yankees played the first Major League Baseball game in Iowa at a cornfield near the site of the ’89 film. Following a two-home run top of the 9th for the New York Yankees to jump ahead, Tim Anderson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to give the Chicago White Sox the 9-8 win. Shoeless Joe would be proud. (Additional out) I think Anderson got Field of Dreams mixed up with The Natural.

Phone Topic/Web Poll Today is Friday the 13th, known as ‘the cursed day’, a day full of superstition. What about you, are you superstitious about Friday the 13th and if so, what’s your main bad luck superstition? Avoiding black cats, not walking under a ladder, fear of the number 13, breaking a mirror, opening an umbrella inside, or something else?
