Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the states that gained house seats

Based on the new census Oregon, Montana, Colorado, North Carolina, Florida and Texas will pick up house seats and electoral votes, with Texas adding two. Conversely population shifts have caused these states to lose seats and votes, California, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. This could have a profound impact on future elections. At least for as long as we pretend like the electoral college is still a good idea. (Additional out) Turns out there’s a downside to taxing and regulating your residents until they move.

Tease: In ______ minutes, how much the oldest known whiskey is expected to go for at auction

The oldest known whiskey is expected to sell for $20,000 to $40,000 at auction this summer. The historic Old Ingledew whiskey was likely bottled in LaGrange, Georgia between 1762 and 1802 around the time of the Revolutionary War and the Whiskey Rebellion. I’m assuming if you drink it you’ll have a rebellion of your own going on inside your stomach. (Additional Out) I say we pool our money so we can make the world’s oldest Old Fashioned.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the ratings are out for Sunday night’s Oscars

It’s the third year in a row the award show’s ratings have fallen significantly. Apparently, people aren’t that interested in seeing famous people talk about themselves for three hours anymore. (Additional out) Probably because they’re long, boring and we all know who’s going to win ahead of time anyway.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this state is paying young people to get vaccinated

West Virginia is paying young people to get vaccinated. Governor Jim Justice announced that anyone between the ages of 16 and 35 who gets a Covid-19 vaccine will get a $100 savings bond. The state will use funds from the federal coronavirus stimulus package for the program. ‘I get that it could help save people’s lives and get us back to normal, but what’s in it for me? $100, cool, I’m in.’ (Additional out) It’s all part of their, ‘You’re Not Really Invincible, You Just Feel That Way’ plan.
