This could have a profound impact on future elections. At least for as long as we pretend like the electoral college is still a good idea. An average of just 9.85 million viewers tuned into the Oscar’s on Sunday night according to Variety. That’s a 13.75 million drop-off in viewership from 2020, roughly 58%. It’s the third year in a row the award show’s ratings have fallen significantly. Apparently, people aren’t that interested in seeing famous people talk about themselves for three hours anymore.
