Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the risk of infection after vaccination according to a new study

The risk of fully vaccinated people getting Covid-19 remains extremely low. A new study found that only two of these so-called ‘breakthrough infections’ were reported out of hundreds of vaccinated people. No vaccination fully protects against a disease, but health experts say this high protection rate is reassuring. Especially for anybody who owns stock in Moderna or Pfizer. (Additional out) Meaning soon I won’t have to smell my own breath for hours on end every time I leave the house.

Tease: In ______ minutes, Biden will pledge to half climate emissions by this date

President Biden will reveal an aggressive new pledge to halve US carbon emissions by 2030 today, hoping that other nations will follow. He kicks off a two-day virtual climate summit with 40 of his foreign counterparts to discuss ways to combat the climate crisis. Forty one old people on Zoom, that sounds fun. (Additional Out) So future generations have a planet to destroy on their own.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the latest industry Amazon is trying to conquer

Amazon has opened a hair salon in London. The world’s largest online retailer is opening a two-story, 1,500 square foot salon equipped with insane new technology that includes augmented reality hair consultations and point and learn displays that give customers info when they point to a product. Apparently Alexa reported back to the mothership about how bad our quarantine hair got. (Additional out) As Jeff Bezos continues his slow, calculated march toward world domination.

Tease: In _____ minutes, what’s new on Netflix in May

The Woman in the Window, Monster and Army of the Dead are a few of the new titles available to stream on Netflix in May. See the new trailer on our website. The Woman in the Window is a crime thriller starring Amy Adams and Gary Oldman, while Monster follows a talented teen implicated in a robbery-turned murder fighting for his innocence. Army of the Dead is a zombie film about mercenaries venturing into Vegas during an outbreak. Plus, it stars Dave Bautista, easily the sixth most talented wrestler turned actor. (Additional out) I’m assuming that if a zombie outbreak ever does happen in the US, Vegas would likely be ground zero.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: The Texas House approved a bill to allow election judges to carry guns at most polling places. The bill that passed 94 to 51 would specifically allow an election judge with a gun license to have a handgun at election sites while executing their duties. Critics worry the new law could lead to voter intimidation. But what do you think, should poll workers be allowed to carry guns?
