Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the percentage of countries on the State Department’s ‘Do Not Travel’ list

The State Department will list 80% of countries as ‘Do Not Travel’ to align their advisory system with the CDC. In a statement yesterday the department noted that ‘the Covid-19 pandemic continues to pose unprecedented risks to travelers. In light of those risks the Department of State strongly recommends U.S. citizens reconsider all travel abroad.’ However, it is still ok to change your Zoom background to make it look like you’re somewhere cool. (Additional out) Bad news for people looking to make others jealous with their Instagram feed.

Tease: In ______ minutes, feeling blah? There’s a fancy word for that

If you felt blah during the Pandemic that’s called ‘languishing’. Languishing is defined as a sense of stagnation and emptiness where it feels like you’re muddling through your days, looking at your life through a foggy lens. Health experts say that it may be the dominant emotion of 2020. Side effects of languishing include wearing the same sweat pants for five days, eating all your meals in bed and watching anything on CBS. (Additional Out) Meanwhile we’re four and a half months into 2021 and it still feels like 2020 everywhere but Texas and Florida.

Tease: Coming up at _____, the main two countries that weaponized QAnon

China, Russia and other foreign adversaries weaponized QAnon according to a new report. The findings from the Soufan Center suggest these foreign actors used the false far-right conspiracy theory to sow discord among the American public in the months surrounding the January 6th Capitol riot. So at least now you know who to blame for your Uncle’s Facebook feed. (Additional out) It was all part of ‘Operation I Can’t Believe They’re Buying This Crap.’

Tease: In _____ minutes, how today became a weed holiday

420 became cannabis culture slang for marijuana consumption after a group of California teens in the 70s used it as code for how they ritualistically smoked daily at 4:20pm. That’s how today, April 20th or 4/20 became a national pothead holiday. And legend has it, if you’ve been good all year Cheech and Chong come down the chimney and leave you a new bong and a bag of Funyuns. (Additional out) In other words, it’s a good day to own a Dominos or Krispy Kreme franchise.
