Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, the Taliban forms a government

The Taliban announced the formation of a hard-line interim government for Afghanistan, filling top posts with veterans of the militant group who oversaw the 20-year fight against the US-led coalition forces. The acting interior minister is on the FBI’s ‘most wanted list’ with a $10 million bounty on his head and no women were selected for acting cabinet positions. I guess Taliban 2.0 looks a lot like Taliban 1.0. (Additional Out) But luckily, the Taliban only have a few billion dollars-worth of our weapons on hand.

Tease: In ______ minutes, Britney’s dad’s turnaround

In a turnaround, Britney Spear’s father filed to end her conservatorship. Yesterday, Jamie Spears, the conservator of Britney’s estate and the one who initiated the 13-year arrangement, cited his daughter’s pleas at two separate court hearings over the summer and formally asked the court to terminate the conservatorship. Apparently, he finally read what everyone has been saying about him online for years. (Additional Out) Either he’s finally seen the light or he just figures he’s already made his money.

Tease: Coming up at _____, this social platform just surpassed YouTube

TikTok has surpassed YouTube in viewing time per user. According to a new report, social media consumers in the UK and US are now spending more time on TikTok than YouTube. TikTok has also ranked as the most-downloaded app worldwide since 2020. So at least I’m not alone in my TikTok addiction. (Additional) I guess their formula of dance, cat and/or puppy videos finally paid off.

Tease: In _____ minutes, the phrase an Australian duck learned to say

An Australian musk duck has been recorded saying “You bloody fool” in the first documented instance of the species mimicking human speech. A hand-reared male named ripper was recently recorded uttering the phrase during a courtship display. Its believed Ripper learned it from his caretaker. Not exactly the most romantic thing to say to your partner, but who knows maybe she’s into dirty talk. (Additional) I love that after millions of years a species finally evolves the ability to speak and immediately they use it to try and get some.
