Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, military leaders point fingers at Biden

Top military leaders testified before a Senate panel yesterday that they had advised Biden not to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, General Mark Milley and General Frank McKenzie punched holes in the White House’s defense of the process painting a dire picture of post-withdrawal Afghanistan. They also said they warned Biden the Afghan military would collapse if the US were to leave the country. However, they didn’t mention it would collapse in 24 hours. (Additional Out) That’s gonna make things a little awkward next time they’re all in the situation room.

Tease: In ______ minutes, how and where to score free coffee today

You can score free coffee at Starbucks and Dunkin’ today in honor of National Coffee Day. Starbucks is offering customers who bring a ‘clean, empty, reusable cup’ into any US location will receive one gratis cup of Pike Place brewed coffee. Dunkin’ is giving away one free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase to members of its DD Perks loyalty program. 7-Eleven and Krispy Kreme have similar deals to Dunkin and Starbucks today only. But I’ve found that coffee is always free at Starbucks if you just wait for someone with your same name to order. (Additional Out) Or you can just drink the free coffee in the break room from the pot nobody’s cleaned in two years.

Tease: Coming up at _____, Democrats turn on each other as the shutdown nears

Democratic factions are splintering as party leaders try to keep Biden’s legislative agenda alive. Progressives are revolting over Pelosi’s plan to hold a vote on a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill before striking a deal on a multi-trillion-dollar spending package expanding the social safety net. Meanwhile the clock is ticking on a government shutdown, which needs to be addressed by the end of tomorrow. I’ve read this book before, they’ll make an 11th hour deal they could’ve made weeks ago. (Additional out) If there’s one thing democrats are good at it’s fighting amongst themselves.

Tease: In _____ minutes, this NBA legend wants unvaccinated players kicked out of the league

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar weighed in on player vaccinations saying that he wants unvaccinated NBA players cut from the league adding ‘there’s no room for them.’  According to ESPN roughly 85 percent of NBA players are vaccinated and the remaining 15 percent claim to have no plans to do so. But actual NBA commissioner LeBron James is vaccinated so at least he’s doing his part. (Additional out) Not surprisingly, flat-earther Kyrie Irving refuses to say whether he’s vaccinated.
