Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, a new variant is taking hold in the US

The Delta variant, first found in India, currently accounts for 10% of US Covid-19 infections. Plus, that proportion is doubling every two weeks and it may become the dominant strain in the US. The Delta variant is deadlier and more contagious than other strains. Luckily, the vaccines appear to work on it and 64.4% of US adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine. However, it could be a problem for higher unvaccinated populations in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Wyoming. Where they need to follow other states’ lead and offer money, beer or both as vaccine incentives. (Additional Out) Apparently when you supercharge a virus in a lab it mutates quickly.

Tease: In ______ minutes, this ousted world leader warns ‘We’ll be back soon’

Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12 years in office have come to an end. Naftali Bennett was sworn in yesterday as Israel’s new prime minister. In a debate ahead of the swearing in Netanyahu denounced the coalition that ousted him from office, calling it a ‘weak’ and ‘dangerous’ government and warning his rivals ‘we’ll be back soon.’ Sounds like someone’s a sore loser. (Additional Out) Something tells me old Bebe Netanyahu will be fine, former Prime Minister looks pretty good on a resume.

Tease: Coming up at _____, a scary sports moment with a happy ending

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 football (soccer) match with Finland over the weekend. For several scary moments he received chest compressions on the field as a live TV audience watched the scene unfold. Thankfully, first responders were able to restart Eriksen’s heart and he’s now in stable condition. I’m glad he’s ok, but if there was ever a time to cut a live feed, that was it. (Additional out) Once again proving my long held theory that hearts are the most over-rated, least cool organ in our bodies.

Tease: In _____ minutes, a man was swallowed whole by one of these animals and lived

A lobster diver in Provincetown, Massachusetts was swallowed whole by a humpback whale and survived. 56-year-old Michael Packard said he felt a huge shove and then everything was completely black. It quickly dawned on him that he was inside a whale. About 40 seconds later the whale surfaced and Packard started throwing his head side to side until it spit him out. Being swallowed by a whale is also known as being Moby Dicked. (Additional out) Lucky for him he apparently tasted terrible.
