Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, good news and bad news about the virus

Latin America and the Caribbean now have more than 5 million Covid-19 cases, with 2.8 million in Brazil alone. Here in the US we added 57,540 new cases yesterday raising the total cases to over 4.77 million. We also added 1,399 deaths. On a brighter note, another vaccine shows promise. Novavax, a third US company has released phase 1 study results showing their protein-based Covid-19 vaccine is safe and elicits an immune response. I’ve never rooted for science nerds to succeed so much in my life. (Additional out) Operation warp speed needs to hurry up.

Tease: In ___ minutes, Kanye officially names his VP

Michelle Tidball will be Kanye West’s VP. The controversial rapper officially named her as his VP on ballot filings. Michelle Tidball is a 57-year-old who works in a dental office in Cody Wyoming, where Kanye owns a ranch. She’s also a self-proclaimed  ‘Biblical life coach’ who claims she can communicate with God and charges $65 for a 50 minute one-on-one session. West is an independent candidate running with BDY – The Birthday Party. At least he picked an actual person as his running mate, I half expected him to choose a robot, his dog or a clone of himself from the future. (Additional out) I gotta admit, I do kind of hope he qualifies for one of the debates though.

Tease: Coming up at ____, covid cancels Sweet Caroline

A bar in Spain banned ‘Sweet Caroline’ so customers will avoid touching hands. To promote social distancing the Spanish bar banned the classic Neil Diamond sing-a-long and the owner posted a photo that reads, “There will be no: touching hands, reaching out, touching me, touching you.” Diamond released a modified version of the tune back in March changing the lyrics to “Hands, washing hands, reaching out, don’t touch me, don’t touch you.” Not quite as catchy, but informative. (Additional Out) Then he stopped there because nobody knows the second verse anyway, we all just come back in at the Bah, Bah Bah part.

Tease: The innovative yet disgusting way one beetle escapes being eaten alive. I’ll tell you more in _____ minutes

A disgusting new study found some beetles eaten by frogs escape from the frog’s butt. The report from Japan’s Kobe University shows that when eaten by a frog, the water scavenger beetle will climb down the intestinal tract and force the frog to poop it out. Apparently the beetle’s hard bodies prevent them from being digested as they push themselves out. The research is the first of it’s kind. And confirms my theory that nature is gross. (Additional out) Clearly, when we’re studying frog poop, we’ve run out of things to research.

Phone Topic/Web Poll: Cheetos has launched their own Mac ‘N Cheese with three flavors, Bold & Cheesy, Flamin’ Hot, and Cheddar Jalapeno. They’re all available at Walmart now, hopefully next to the Tum's aisle. What do you think, who makes the best store-bought Mac ‘N Cheese? Kraft, Annie’s, Velveeta, or someone else?
