Tease: Coming up in ___________ minutes, where Russia is beefing up their military

Russia is amassing major military power in the Arctic. New satellite imagery reveals the country is testing its newest weapons in a region freshly ice free due to climate change. Those include one Russian ‘super weapon’ called the Poseidon 2M39 stealth torpedo that causes radioactive waves that could render parts of the target coastline uninhabitable for decades. So, it turns out there’s a downside to letting a Bond villain run a country for twenty-two years. (Additional Out) So it looks like we’re entering the not-so-cold war.

Tease: In ______ minutes, personal data from half a billion users of this social network gets posted by hackers

Half a billion Facebook users personal data has been posted to a website used by hackers. Cybersecurity experts say this includes more than 32 million accounts in the US. Possible details exposed on the site include full names, locations, birthdays, email address, phone numbers and relationship statuses. Facebook says the data was shared in 2019 and the issue leading to the leak was fixed. But last time I checked most people don’t change their name, birthday and phone number every two years. (Additional out) Of course that’s all info you could get simply by friending us on Facebook, but still, not cool.

Tease: Coming up at _____, what’s behind the next wave of Covid that could hit young people the hardest

Unlike past strains, this new variant more adversely affects the young. Plus, millions of younger Americans haven’t gotten vaccine shots yet since we’ve focused on older people. Luckily, most states have opened vaccinations for everyone 16 and up. Something we probably should’ve done before Spring Break. (Additional out) Time for a TikTok vaccination challenge.

Tease: In _____ minutes, the giants win big at the box office

Godzilla vs Kong is the biggest hit since the beginning of the pandemic. The movie featuring a giant radioactive lizard fighting an oversized ape made $48.5 million since Thursday night, exceeding expectations. Its also a good sign that theaters can do good business alongside streaming. Provided your movie has giant monsters in it. (Additional out) Or a sign of how desperate we are for something to watch.
